She needs to "move on" and stop the nonsense. Now she's a politician? Michael Moore's new pawn and looking more ridiculous every day. See it's people like that that keeps me from voting democrat.(well amongst other reasons)

The Mother of a dead soldier is dumb? Wow you are a heartless jingoistic hate monger. Chicken hawks like you make me sick. You probalbly couldn't even aim a weapon. I would bet you were never even in the military. Chicken shit!

I have a question for you. If her son were alive would she be any smarter?

If I make you sick, at least I'm doing something to cause intellectually inferior minds some discomfort. You're vocabulary and limited logic shows a decided lack of the capacity to analyze rationally.

For once in your fiberal life stop the name calling and please answer a question without one cuss word in your response. How would removing troops from New Orleans help the people of that devastated city?

The people asked that they be there to establish order and safety which they did and Sheehan demanded that they leave. Which is it, you're the ultimate authority...do "you" remove the troops? Is New Orleans occupied?

Again. Try, just once in your life, to answer with at least a modicum of your limited cerebral capacity.

Haha Woodrow! Good answer to that name calling Fib!

I won't waste my time with a small minded moron like you.

So you are admitting you are incapable of answering a simple question. Why is that not surprising to me.

Anonymous said...

Answer I don't think she is dumb. Possibly depressed.

Anonymous said...

Possibly a pawn! Of the left of course. I think she's in deeper than she thought she was going to be.
Now she is just making a fool of herself.

NewsGnome said...

I would agree with depressed. I certainly would have been had I lost my son who was also over there. But I didn't, thank God! However, her opinions have moved from anger to the ridiculous. I'm also sure that the residents of New Orleans were more than happy to have the military re-establish law and order and want them to stay until regular civilian authority can be established. But don't count on Ray Nagin for that. The guy has proven he is the definition of incompetence. Proven, once again, when he tried to have the people return to the city before it is safe for habitation. I think he is seriously over his head.

I would probably disagree with the pawn statement, because we all have our own free will. Only we can allow ourselves to become pawns, but you are certainly right about making a fool of herself. NG

Wow..... a miracle you agree she's depressed? May I ask do you have any compassion for her?

NewsGnome said...

When you start identifying yourself in some way so I know I'm responding to specific posts, I'll be happy to discuss Sheehan, but until you do I'm not going to respond.NG

Can't ID myself. I understand your reluctance to answer any question that would offer any incite into your true feelings {other than politics}. I can only say you and I would disagree on most issues. As a person who served in the military during war time I can tell you not all soldiers agree with the President. Most did there duty just the same. I am pleased your son survived as I would not wish the death of a loved one on anyone.

Obviously I did not make myself clear with my request. When you post something, you may be one of 5 or 10 individuals and I want to respond to a specific post. The only way to really do that is to identifiy the poster is SOMEWAY. I am not asking for your name or anything that would identify you. I'm talking about when you post...if you identify yourself as "green banana" at least I can respond to "green banana" directly. There are others who post and there is confusion as to whom I'm responding. That's all I'm asking. If you chose not to, that certainly is your choice, but I'll quit responding specifically to you. For example when I post on other blogs I sign NG for NewsGnome. It helps limit the confusion.

Understood, signed liberal vet.

Hello TOS, Have enjoyed many of your posts on Cranky Liberal although I haven't been there for a long time. As you're aware he censored my posts and then lied about it so I figure what's the point.NG

Thanks, Liberal Vet, now to the Cindy Sheehan situation. You’re asking me to express compassion for stupidity. I’m sure Sheehan has some depression, but it does not excuse her criticism of the Troops in New Orleans. Calling the incredible effort an occupation is an inexcusable slur.

I don’t care how depressed she may be, the troops in New Orleans are doing a great job, and it’s not an occupation, it’s an act of kindness and compassion.

You’ve identified yourself as a vet, do you think they’re an occupying army?

Anonymous said...

No I do not believe the military is an occupying army. I do believe they should and will follow the dictates in posse commitatus. I heard a general on NPR this morning, I can't remember his name. He indicated he agreed wth this law which I believe occurred post the civil war. I think it was enacted to prevent the military from interfering with elections in the south. I do not think Ms Sheehan is dumb, I think a better way to put it would be misguided and in need of counseling. I must defend her right to protest, even Bush did so. Liberal Vet.

You would say she's misguided and in need of counseling because you're on the same political side. I would say she needs to be institutionalized because her mind is gone.

The posse comitatus act is the very thing that Gov. Kathleen Blanco used to stop FEMA and federal help from coming into Louisiana for 24 hours. That is not a criticism of the act, it is an indictment of Blanco’s incompetence.

Let me say one other thing. You mentioned you listen to NPR. If I said I listen to FOX fiberals would say I was being brainwashed. That’s exactly what I think happens listening to NPR. They’re as fair and balanced as fiberals say FOX is. NG

The act of institutionalization is not warranted in Ms Sheehan's case. According to the mental hygiene law a person must pose an imminent threat to himself, others or property or be so decompensated, as in psychotic, that they are incapable of self care. As far as listening to NPR they were interviewing a General who supports the efforts of our troops and the doctrine of Posse Comitatus I enjoyed listening, I also watch Fox. There seems no reason to have animosity between us. If people of all political beliefs do not reach some kind of truce we are all doomed. And obviously anyone who blames Bush for the weather is an imbecile. And I agree Blanco is a moron. My liberal leanings do not prevent me from recognizing incompetence on both sides.

I'm just curious where the "giant" caravan Sheehan was supposed to take to the White House went. She arrived today in three SUV (now there's a liberal faux pas) with only thirty people with AP and Reuters issuing bulletins about every fiftheen minutes. As a former journalist, that is ridicilous. She simply isn't that big a story.

And if you can call Blanco a moron (a point of agreement), I can call Sheehan an idiot (apparently a point of disagreement.)

Judging from the pride my son has in his service in the military, I believe that Casey would be heart-broken to hear his mother bad mouth America's soldiers as she has.

I'm not convinced being against the war is bad mouthing the troops. Freedom of speech is a fundamental constitutional right. I can understand your concern with moral of the troops. I believe Ms Sheehan's fifteen minutes of fame are long gone. LV

LV, My comment about Sheehan was in response to her calling
troops in New Orleans an occupying force. She certainly has had
the opportunity to express her opinions about the war.

When the Texas vigil started she just wanted to be one gold star
Mom saying her piece. But when the Democrat PR machine
took over it became nothing more than a typical the moveon.org
bash Bush party.

Did you know for example, the Dems took over her protest and began
telling her what to do and say. Ben Cohen, Joan Blades, Medea Benjamin
and Michele Mulkey used her to get the publicity against Bush.
They are four very fiberal heavy weight Bush haters who co-opted Sheehan’s
protest. Cohen and Benjamin did a lot of the funding, Blades and Mulkey dictated
what Sheehan would be allowed to say and how to say it.

Obviously I disagree with her, but she should have been allowed to
hold her protest under her own terms, not turned into a fiberal circus, by
less than scrupulous hatemongers.

If these so called hate mongers fed her the lines then they should have had the nerve to say so. As far as her being turned into a circus I do not entirely disagree. Unfortunately I feel it is in our nature to use people and then toss them aside. As soon as her ability to garner media attention has faltered she will be forgotten. I am confident another person will fill her shoes. On the other hand I am confident that examples of republicans using others to further an agenda are just as prevalent.

Just got back into town.

Bill and Hillary Clinton are masters of using people and when they are of no further use tossed aside. I can give you a long list starting with Web Hubble and Jim Guy Tucker to mention a couple.

You've asserted that Republicans have used people like Cindy Sheehan has been used by Democrats...how about a couple of examples with how they were used. I don't remember any, although Michael Moore, was one of the "hatemongers" used by Republicans, though I doubt he wouldn't see it that way.
