The ultra-liberal Barak Obama and his liberal administration is facing a test of fundamental policies of the far left. Americans are about to see if liberal policies will really work during economic problems. Obviously, history has shown the liberal solutions to solve the Depression by FDR were failures. FDR was popular enough to make people believe his policies worked. But the Depression lasted until World War II broke out, and Americans, sacrificed in every possible way. A monstrous price was paid by the average citizen which is what really got us out of the Depression. Fuel was rationed, food was rationed, recycling of metals for war materials were huge costs citizens paid to be able to fight the Nazis and Imperial Japan.
Obama, is in a similar position. He has to prove liberal financial policies will work. He, like FDR is popular, but today, Americans are much more broadly informed with many more sources of information than citizens had back then. I, unfortunately, predict that Obama’s policies won’t work and the sacrifice will be just as great as it was during the Depression, but because Obama is not subject to any realistic criticism, even if his policies are failures, any proposal he makes, like FDR, will be reported as a success by the sycophant mainstream media.
But, Americans will see the futility of the leftist Democrat solutions, and realize that increasing spending, raising taxes, and forcing bankruptcy on liberal states and cities will be his result. That will turn Americans back to the conservative brand. It will also take a huge collapse in America, to teach Americans liberals their policies will be inevitable failures. That will be extremely difficult, but America will turn back to Republicans to solve the disaster that Obama will not solve. The question will be, will Republicans stand by the Reagan principles or once again abandon them as tax and spenders repeating the last cycle. Reagan principles are the the solution to today's economic crisis, like them or not. It's the only way.

Hey NG-Been a little busy.
I think what Obama is doing now is trying to appeal to the people who didn't vote for him, but like everything else the dems do it's all hype. I think a year or 2 in he will start putting in his socialist policies. Yet no matter how much worse things get the media will be saying how great he is.
Did you see the coins they are selling now? Obama coins with Kennedy in the background on one side and Lincoln on the other side?
What we need to know is how is he similar to either one. What a gullible country we have.

Merry Christmas
tos, The fawning over Obama is sickening. Wait until sycophants discover that Obama is NOT the Messiah.

"but today, Americans are much more broadly informed with many more sources of information than citizens had back then."
Come on NG, I thought I was supposed to be the naive one...
Maybe the info is there....but informed????
LAC
L, I guess I’m not understanding your question. Are you saying that the American people are “not” more well informed than ever before? Does that mean that those who elected Obama are ill-informed?
NG
Amazing though how much more we found out about Sarah Palin in one week than most people still don't know about Obama except that he is is African American and if we don't vote for him we are racists and that we never heard anyone say nothing so well.
tos
All I've got to say is that we've only got ourselves to blame if Obama is a total failure. It seems not one is allowed to think anymore...all you can do is say yes, masser!

NG-
it's been a couple weeks since i wrote that I havne't reread the post that prompted it, but I believe I intended it to be a joke.
I think the vast majority of Americans are miss-informed regardless of whether they voted for Obama, McCain, Nader, Ron Paul or wrote in Castro. I think there are a lot of smart Americans out there, whether I agree with them or not. i don't agree with you on a lot of things, but I still think you are intelligent and I would like to think you give me some credit as well. When it comes to you, i don't question you're knowledge I question a few of the fundamental assumptions of your ideology. I don't think I learned much in literary graduate school, but one of the things that I did learn was that just because you don't agree with another paradigm, it doesn't mean that the people who believe in it are wrong.
Just trying to make a joke, because I thought you would agree with me that most Americans didn't know what htey were doing, and if that means that most of the people who voted for Obama didn't understand what he stood for, then I agree.
If I can figure out how to log into my dormant blogger site, I'm going to scath Tim Tebow tonight. I actually came to your site because I had no idea what my url was and I knew there would be a sign in screen on the top of your screen.
3/4 law school grades in. Not spectacular but unless the final one is really bad will sustain my scholarship.
After the hell of this last semester and being home for three weeks, I'm really starting to understand why you put so much importance in family. As an only child,I've never had a close brother figure, but I spent a lot of time this semester, maybe more in four months than the rest of my life combined, talking to my two cousins who are closest to my age.
Best of luck with the new year.

Sorry about missing the joke. But I can understand the belief that Americans can be terribly miss-informed. The problem I have is that in most cases, we have become a “bumper sticker” society. The media has reduced everything to 9 second sound bites which destroys and distorts real information. But, we have the option to read on a vastly diverse information source on the internet which we didn't have before with this ease of access. But I suspect you’re right that it doesn’t happen. I think it’s just wishful thinking on my part.
I must know why you’re “scathing” Tim Tebow. Oh, I forgot, aren’t you from Oklahoma? I watched the game and it was a tough one. I was cheering Florida because of Urban Meyers. He’s one heck of a coach.
Congrats on the grades. Keep up the good work. Glad to hear you’re spending some time talking with your cousins. There is just something about blood as you know. I spent a lot of time with mine and am the better for it. Some of my cousins lived with us when their families had problems. There are things you learn in sibling and blood cousin relationships not available any other way. My brother was 13 years older than me and one of the most interesting people I ever knew. (He was a writer, by the way. Outdoor recreation and geological/mineral magazines. One day he showed me 30 articles he had published in one given month. And that was typical.) But we couldn’t spend 5 minutes talking about any subject without being on opposite sides, it was uncanny. I don’t know if you know anything about the Hopi and Navajo land disputes, but we wound up on opposites of that issue....as I think about it, arguing about it was too pathetically stupid.
I appreciate your keeping me posted on your law school progress. Just remember, having the freedom to pursue our own lofty goals is the greatest thing America offers. We don’t need to be guaranteed success, but we do need the right to keep government out of our way as much as possible. That’s what I’m seeing eroding right before my eyes. It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen and people are simply not realizing it. To succeed to our fullest potential, we need the right to fail or succeed but most of all pursue our dreams.
I will be interested to watch your opinions evolve as you get older. I have lots of faith in your potential.
