REPUBLICAN HYPOCRISY POSTER BOY

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Peter King (R-L.I. New York) is the poster boy for hypocrisy.

He used profiling and xenophobia in helping kill the Dubai container deal. Now he’s demanding that the New York Muslim Chaplin be fired for calling President Bush a terrorist and saying Muslims were being tortured in New York’s jails.

Dubai didn’t say Bush was a terrorist. Why did King oppose their effort to operate cargo terminals when they’re our best ally in the region. You can’t have it both ways Mr. King.

Although I'm not sure that the Dubai deal was in the UAE's best interest more than ours,I tend to feel more that it really doesn't make that much of a difference who operates them. If we don't open every single container that comes through the ports it wouldn't make a difference who operates them. I agree Port Security is important but what cracks me up is how these people that are so concerned about it aren't concerned about any other issues regarding National Security. Wasn't that a nice stab in the back to a real good ally we have of the UAE? Makes me ashamed to call myself an American. I'll bet if Bush was against that deal, they would have pushed for it to go through saying "Oh,he's racial profiling" or whatever else they would normally say.
Did you see that comment on your post about enviromentalists from Carol, What the hey was that?

My problem is the hypocrisy. Chinese companies operate terminals on the west coast both ends of the Panama Canal and more. No complaint then from the fibs. Another Dubai company operates other port terminals in other US ports, along with companies from all over the world by and sell of America all the time. The main reason is that America is the one of the best and safest investments available.

You're right on profiling, it wouldn’t matter what side Bush was on with this issue, he’d be wrong...big surprise. The ally issue is critical. The fiberals had a convenient epiphany on national security suddenly not for the country but because they thought they could get some mileage attacking Bush and appear to be on the side of national security...yea right.

Carol....that was from my better and much kinder half. She likes to remind me not to take myself too seriously, which is my particular occupational hazzard. Darn it, I was hoping I had a groupie :)
