What’s happening with TIME Magazine? Suddenly the magazine that has been promoting liberalism and related causes for eons is writing articles that actually have an honest appraisal of the news, without the heavy leftist slant. It even threw a left-handed complement at Rush Limbaugh, albeit they had to call him a name: “obnoxious anti-environmentalist” before they reluctantly agree with his assessment of the Gulf oil spill.
Slight detour: One comparison to the amount oil spilled into the gulf compares to two 12oz cans of Foster’s beer being dumped into a football stadium full of water the size of the Coliseum to give you an idea of the amount of oil compared to the amount of water involved.
I wanted to say TIME had to look truth in the face and be honest, but I don’t think that’s the reason they seem to be adjusting their editorial evaluations. Liberal dogma, which they preach, has been killing their magazine, and I think they are actually realizing that honesty could increase their readership. In other words, they’re trying, begrudgingly, to report accurately. In truth, it’s a matter of survival for TIME.
They are watching conservative publications and web pages thriving while TIME is withering. They’re only one step behind the essentially defunct NEWSWEEK. Reality is a harsh teacher. Maybe TIME is actually learning the lessons of real journalism. Maybe too, “Journolist” made them realize just how off track they had become.

I was bored enough to take the time to unblock your site from my laptop. Hope you and the family are doing well.
Just want to make sure I understand you correctly before I take more time and write out a full response. If a news organization gives a completely partisan right wing interpretation then its a legit news organization. If it does anything else then its a piece of bleep?
And I guess I'm just bored enough to suggest that you once again failed to accept the point that TIME is trying to find a way to survive. It ain't doing it as it has in the past. It's readers are leaving in droves. Newsweek was sold for a dollar yesterday and I would have asked for some change back. A buck was twice what it was worth. It's failure was exactly what I was talking about. They're so liberally biased they couldn't sustain a readership. CBS, ABC, NBC are all losing viewers because frankly, they aren't honest. FOX isn't having that trouble...why is that?
There are so many reasons why Fox isn't doing poorly. Let me list a few:
1) It is the only mass television news source that is openly conservative. Therefore legions of conservatives watch it as their primary news source. All of the other networks you site split moderate and liberal viewers. There are multiple news sources for people who vote liberal or independent, thus, the consumer is spread out over multiple outlets. (Pretty basic economics, if only one producer offers a product in a certain forum, then that producer is going to monopolize that product).
2) Fox is part of News Corp, a hugely profitable corporation. Whereas CNN begins every review of an HBO program by admitting that it shares a parent company (Time Warner) with HBO, you never hear Fox admit that it shares an owner with Zondervan. Fox will parade Sarah Palin across the screen and try and sell the "children's version" of her bio without ever admitting that their owner makes money everytime people buy her book.
3) Fox primarily has a large viewership because enough Americans are stupid enough to watch Glen Beck pick out a random piece of Americana and distort it in an attempt to compare it to Russian Socialism.
4) American Idol, the Bachelor, and Jersery Shore all have amazing ratings. I would actually be scared if something I believed in strongly shared rankings with those shows.
5) Finally. John Kyl, and perhaps Linsdsey Graham (who used to be my favorite Republican before I learned this), want to repeal the 14th Amendment. Wow.... let the fascist revolution begin.
LAC,
Since you’ve said you’ve blocked any communication from me on your email, I considered not even responding. But you’re calling people who don’t think like you stupid was too much.
Finally you’ve revealed the real truth about liberalism and yourself and how your collective view of the governed. To quote you: "Americans are stupid!" Unless, of course, they think like you or submit to liberal indoctrination. According to you they're too stupid to choose TV shows to watch and you assume that only you have the right to dictate how they live or what they watch.
l. RE-fascism: Sorry, Lonely, but Obama started the fascist revolution the day he walked into the Oval Office. The fact that you don't recognize it says a lot about you.
2. FOX is successful because it provides what the greatest number people want to watch. It’s call supply and demand. CNN is unsuccessful because it does not provide a product that most people want to watch. Your dilution theory is not an adequate economic argument. All of the top radio talk show are conservative and do extremely well competing in the same market place of ideas. The real reason liberal shows are failures are that there just aren’t as many liberals as you think or the mainstream media thinks, for that matter. Thus, TIME's possible revival of honest journalism is an intriguing possibility. Too bad Newsweek wasn’t sold to a conservative to test the theory in the real world. But then a real conservative would realize Newsweek is a loser to start with.
4. The difference between yesterday and today is that conservatives are no longer keeping quiet about the socialistic nature of political correctness, assumed liberal superiority and the effort to take control of people's lives. Liberalism is no longer sustainable, and name-calling like stupid and racist have become nothing more than meaningless epithets that Liberals try to use because their ideas and solutions are failing as we watch. They have nothing but old obviously ineffective policies that they have to force down American's throats for their acceptance, usually through judicial fiat, which is what we’ve been seeing lately in abundance.
5. Obama certainly has wrought change with his administration. He has solidified Americans and forced them to demand a return to democracy in a way and time frame I never thought possible. Our economy is in the tank not because of Bush, but because of Obama. You can see it with his economist rats leaving his sinking ship of state with their Keynesian solutions failing and are finding you can’t spend your way out of debt.
LAC,
There is an admission in your comment that I had planned to address but my previous post was getting a little long so I decided to make it in a second response.
You admit that the rest of the media stations are liberals, although you attempt to identify some as moderate. (moderate simply means that they're slightly to the right of Sal Alinsky) In effect, if your logic was balanced you would be wondering why there are 6 liberal shows and only one conservative, when that one is leading the pack. Even if you added up CNBC, MWNBC and CNN together, they'd have a hard time matching numbers with FOX and that is the most telling of all.
It's a function of terminally biased journalism schools and newsrooms that are controlled by hiring only liberal reporters who are expected to toe the party line. You may have forgotten I was in that business and know now it works. It starts in the hiring and is controlled at the assignment desk. I applied for a job at the NBC affiliate in Los Angeles after university. The New Director told me right to my face, "you're the wrong color, wrong gender with the wrong surname." Those were his exact words, I'll never forget it.
But I'm glad you recognize the fact that it's one conservative leaning station and a couple dozen mainstream and cable leftist leaning stations. Which is even another humorous truth of your conclusion. The one station is on cable and cable networks restrict it's distribution by requiring customers to buy the top line package it get it, while MSNBC and CNN both can be seen if you buy the lower line packages. Even with that hurdle, FOX beats them hands down. So you're economic case is an exceptionally weak one.
I suppose you're forgetting basic grammar because of your old age. Obviously it can't have anything to do with your mind. That's not important ideologically, but since you assume a constant air of superiority around me, I felt it was worth brining up. (and yes, I act superior to you too. We all do. Get over it and stop trying to make it a valid point. I have yet to meet a humble blogger. Anyone who claims to be humble is probably suffering from pride. Oh wait, crap, that was really proud of me to make that assumption. I suppose we could continue on this point for 1,000 words and never make an actual point...)
You tell me my market dilution idea is not valid economic theory. When the hell is market share no longer a viable economic idea? You constantly bring up the vast number of career experiences you've had, yet to me, not being able to have one solid career experience means you've failed over and over again. I know a dozen or so self made millionaires, and not a single one of them has ever cited having more than one job. They've all picked a path and dominated the hell out of it. Yet, you want me to think you're a business genius because you've what, switched jobs/careers every half dozen years? I'm sorry that NBC wouldn't hire you because you're white. Welcome to the real world. So what? You should be hired because you're white??? If the largest untapped demographic in a market is Latino, then why the hell shouldn't the station hire a Latino to gain that market. To insist any thing else shows that you care more about yourself than any ideal of a free market that you tea partiers prance around about.
I told you I attempted to block you on gmail. I didn't succeed.
I'm hungry for a fight so I'm sure I'll respond even though I doubt its a good idea.
LINE BY LINE Liberal name calling tantrum using age bigotry. More hate speech bigotry using my age claiming it is causing senility. I'm NOT "around you" Lonely, we're on the internet in different states. But, you should be so lucky. I have never sent you a single email, that was not a response to something you posted or emailed yet you say you've failed at your attempt to "lock me out of your email." That's just weird. You're getting kind of "iffy" here, Lonely. "Humility"…boring! Obviously, I'm the most humble person ever to exist and I'm proud of it.
Now for the interesting stuff. For a person who says he's giving advice to clients on how to avoid taxes, I'm sure glad you're not my adviser. (not to mention the hypocrisy of a liberal trying to get out of paying taxes in the first place, like Rangel....perhaps you're advising him on how to skip out of liberal taxes he forces on others)
Dilution and market share are two different things. Your definition of "dilution" assumes that all competing products are equal and compelling, which is almost never the case. Market share, on the other hand is a response to a "more equal" product or products that are more compelling than a competitor's products. The analogy is: cream rises to the top. In the case of FOX and other cable shows, FOX is judged by the cable viewers to be so superior and trounces it's competitors daily and
ratings confirm that weekly. Look at the numbers and you can see the difference with FOX getting as many viewers alone as the Libnets get combined. Liberal cable networks are like Hyenas squabbling over scraps.
Ya know, Lonely, you've got to be a total idiot to believe what you said about millionaires. I would wager a Twinkie that for every one "self-made" millionaire who had only one job or idea and no failures on his way to his riches, there are a thousand who've failed many times before they made their fortunes. Try reading "Think and Grow Rich," by Napoleon Hill. You just want to use your pathetic theory to justify your lack of real life experience. I doubt you've ask any of your so-called dozen millionaires if they think they failed in their initial efforts to succeed. It's your twisted definition of success and failure that's the problem. I challenge you to ask these 12 persons, if they have ever considered that they've failed before they embarked on their success.
Now for your effort to demean me personally. I just wish you were half as smart as you think you are. Just consider yourself. You failed at writing and teaching lit and said you were settling for the "law." You've revealed that your internship is with a small firm, which you are praying will hire you, because you didn't get a law school rating high enough to get a big-name law firm internship. You've defined yourself ad nauseam as the smartest guy in the room but bailed out of Loyola Law School using the excuse that Oklahoma State was equal. Give me a break. THAT IS A CROCK and you know it! The truth is you couldn't hack it at Loyola. Now that we've traded insults, proceed with your "fight." It is both your choice and your turn for all the good it will do. I think it's a meaningless, stupid exercise. Go ahead, Make my Day.

agree with FOX or not at least you get the truth
I met a woman who grew up in Poland at a Tea Party and she said the way our governmnet is acting is the way tyranny started in Poland and she lived through that change. I think she has an idea of how that works rather than the hacks on MSNBC
It's just difficult for liberals to give in even an inch
tos
Hi tos,
Yea...Isn't it interesting that collapse comes from within. We're seeing it here. NG
